*Maria Herbert, President of MCH Consulting Services based in Suffolk, Virginia.
Maria worked for three years to win a life-changing contract. She was one of 125 submissions.

While she was waiting to get word on the contract, she was also building her brand and responding to other RFPs.
“You make sure you meet the right attorney, the right CPA, the right HR director, the right people who are going to be supporting your business, and that they are available and ready. They know you, they know your business so when you’re ready and you flip the switch, it’s no drama.”
“It’s a learning process. It’s been fun.”
To get ready for growth:
-You need to build a team around you that can grow as you grow.
-Through Women in Defense Greater Hampton Roads, she met important bankers.
-By being a member of Civic Class 2016, she got to meet some great people.
“You build relationships so that when you’re ready, all you have to do is say, ‘Ok.” And you actually have a real relationship with these people.”
